Otafest, as always, was an amazing convention to go to. This year they expanded the venue into some of the (what looked like) newer buildings and it definitely had a more "con" vibe to it. The weather was amazing and seemed to hold up pretty well for the whole weekend.
helped me with my makeup and bald cap for my Aang cosplay which took pretty long to do. But overall I was so happy with it. For Lillywh's first time doing latex and bald caps I think she did a pretty good job. They are tougher than I thought they would be to apply and it probably didn't help with the massive amount of hair I have on my head.
After getting ready and putting everything away, we met up with innovators to walk around the con. It felt weird being a boy and even weirder being bald...HAAA. I got so flustered when people asked for pictures. Which was sad because before the con Lillywh and I were practicing poses and they came so naturally. But at the con I froze. Luckily everyone was forgiving and allowed me to have a moment haha.
We walked around a lot and saw so many amazing costumes. I got to catch up with a bunch of people too. It was real nice seeing everyone again. I was sad for missing a good chunk of the cosplay contest thought :/ Hopefully next year I'll be able to take it all in
On the Sunday of Otafest, I wore my Hikaru cosplay and enetered in the hall masq. It was amazing seeing all the costumes at the venue concentrated in one area. Everyone looked amazing! I was so happy though because I took away first place in the journeyman division which had me beaming
My favourite part of otafest that never seems to disappoint is the closing ceremonies. Last year the male execs were wearing maid costumes, this year the female execs got pied, whiskered, glittered, featheres and watered down. IT was sooo funny. I love that they're always fundraising for a good cause and aways exceed what they want to make. Soo proud of the otafest community
I was super happy to be part of the action and witness everything!
Now I'm still in a lul after the con. I've been reading lots and haven't really worked on many cosplay related things. I'm finishing my spring term so that will mean more time to dedicate to my sewing! I need to go fabric shopping soon to get started on everything. ai ya!
